I Was Shocked to Learn the Truth About Periods and School Dropouts.

Dear friends & family,
It broke my heart to learn that something as natural as menstruation is the reason 23 million girls drop out of school every year in India.
They aren’t leaving because they lack talent or ambition.
They’re forced out because they don’t have access to menstrual products, lack education about their own bodies, and are trapped in a culture of shame and silence.

This isn’t just heartbreaking — it’s unacceptable.
That’s why I joined the Wings of Hope campaign.
We’re working to ensure that no girl misses school or loses her confidence just because of her period.

A New Legal Turn Recognizes The Need To Address The Issue
In a landmark Supreme Court judgment, the Court has declared that the right to menstrual health and hygiene is a part of the fundamental Right to Life under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. This means that dignity, health, education, and bodily autonomy during menstruation are now recognised as legal rights - not optional privileges.
The Constitution now explicitly protects a girl’s right to manage her period with dignity so she can stay in school and pursue her dreams.

This legal backing strengthens exactly the work we’re doing with Wings of Hope — and highlights why this campaign is urgent and essential.

Wings of Hope Ensures That No Girl Drops Out Because of Her Period

We provide:
  • Reusable cloth pads that last for years, reduce waste, and protect the planet.
  • Menstrual and mental health education so girls understand their bodies with pride, not fear.
  • Support systems that help girls manage periods with dignity, confidence, and community.
This isn’t just about hygiene —
It’s about freedom, education, health, and equality.

Why Your Support Matters
Just ₹1,500 can support one girl for an entire year, providing her with the necessary resources, knowledge, and confidence to stay in school and pursue her dreams.

I’m raising resources for girls without privileges or any support system because I believe no girl should be held back by her body.

Will you join me in giving her the wings to rise?

Donate. Share. Spread the Wings of Hope.
Together, let’s end period shame - one girl at a time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Chitra Chandrashekhar
